Mount Frome is a rural locality centred on a conical hill rising to roughly 466 metres, located about 12 kilometres east of Mudgee on the south-eastern edge of the Mudgee Valley. The area is dominated by open grazing country and undulating terrain, with historical significance for limestone quarrying and lime kilns.
