About Freemantle
Freemantle is a rural locality in the Central Tablelands of New South Wales, approximately 30 kilometres south-east of Bathurst within the Bathurst Regional Council area. The district was once dominated by large pastoral runs; a closer settlement scheme in 1929-30 broke up the Freemantle, Gowan and Willow Glen properties, totalling over 100,000 acres, into smaller farming blocks. The Freemantle Station shearing shed, built in 1902, was once among the largest in the region.
