About Terrigal
Terrigal is a coastal town on the Central Coast of New South Wales, about 12 km east of Gosford on the Pacific Ocean. The area was settled by John Gray in 1826, who named his property Tarrygal from a local Aboriginal word meaning 'place of little birds'. Terrigal is known for its patrolled surf beach, the Triassic rock promontory known as The Skillion, and Terrigal Lagoon. In 2011 the decommissioned destroyer HMAS Adelaide was scuttled offshore to create a dive wreck.
