About Wallaroo (NSW)
Wallaroo is a rural locality in the Yass Valley Shire of New South Wales, about 19 km north-west of Canberra, north of the Australian Capital Territory border, west of the Barton Highway and east of the Murrumbidgee River. The district is best known for the St Sava Serbian Orthodox monastery, known as New Kalenich, built between 1981 and 1990 and modelled on the medieval Kalenić monastery in Serbia. The monastery is the headquarters of the Serbian Orthodox Eparchy of Australia and New Zealand, set in farmland at an elevation of about 600 metres.
