About Hoskinstown
Hoskinstown is a rural locality on the Southern Tablelands of New South Wales, about 38 km south-east of Canberra on the route between Queanbeyan and Braidwood. The area, on the traditional lands of the Ngarigo people, was known as Blackheath until 1870, when the post office was renamed for John Hosking, Sydney's first elected mayor, who owned the nearby Foxlow station. The district is predominantly grazing country, and its heritage buildings include a memorial hall, school, hotel and former railway station.
