About Candelo
Candelo is a town in south-eastern New South Wales, in the Bega Valley Shire, 448 kilometres south of Sydney and 23 kilometres north-west of Merimbula. The district was first settled in the 1830s and the village developed in the 1860s at a crossroads of tracks linking the Monaro with the coast, with dairying its major industry. Today it is known for its well-preserved nineteenth-century buildings, arts scene and monthly markets.
