About Cook

Cook is a suburb of the Belconnen district of Canberra, established in 1968. It is named after Captain James Cook and Sir Joseph Cook, the sixth Prime Minister of Australia, and its streets are named after notable women from Australian history. The suburb lies a short distance from Lake Ginninderra, a recreational lake formed in the 1970s by damming Ginninderra Creek.
