About Morayfield
Morayfield is a town and suburb in the City of Moreton Bay, Queensland, located approximately 44.5 kilometres north of Brisbane. The name derives from Morayshire, Scotland, birthplace of George Raff, a merchant and politician who in 1868 established the Morayfield sugar plantation on the Caboolture River using South Sea Islander labour. The plantation ruins are heritage-listed. The suburb is traversed by the Bruce Highway and Caboolture railway line and is predominantly residential, with its main commercial area along Morayfield Road.
