About Yangan
Yangan is a rural town and locality in the Southern Downs Region of the Darling Downs, about 19 kilometres east of Warwick. Swan Creek, a tributary of the Condamine River, flows south of the town through the Swanfels Valley, and sandstone quarries lie to the south. Originally known as Upper Swan Creek, it was renamed Yangan in 1887, an Aboriginal word meaning proceed or go away, and its heritage-listed School of Arts and Masonic Hall are local landmarks.
