About Malmsbury
Malmsbury is a town on the Old Calder Highway in central Victoria, about 95 km north-west of Melbourne and 11 km north-west of Kyneton, near the Coliban River in the Shire of Macedon Ranges, on the traditional lands of the Dja Dja Wurrung people. Gold discovered in the district in 1858 made it a service centre for diggers heading to Bendigo and Castlemaine. The town's landmark is the bluestone Malmsbury Viaduct, a masonry arch railway bridge built in 1859 and classified by the National Trust, and the Malmsbury Reservoir, built in 1874, was the first of the water storages for the Bendigo region.
